Trans Fat and Salt

Food and Drug Administration went a step further on November 7, 2013 to trim trans fats from nation's dishes and servings. FDA opened a 60-day comment period on preliminary determination of collecting more data and getting input from the food industry. At present, if any serving contains less than 0.5 gram of trans fats, the food maker is able to claim its product to contain "zero" trans fat. If the new rules go into effect, food makers will lose this 0.5 gram per serving leeway.

FDA banned trans fat in 2015.
